The monument to the founders of Odessa on Catherine's Square is a restored monument to Catherine II and her associates - G.A. Potemkin, de Ribas, de Volan and P.A. Zubov. The original monument was erected in 1900 by the sculptor B.V. Eduards according to the project of the local architect Yu.M. In 1965, a monument was erected on this site to the sailors of the battleship Potemkin, who in 1905 raised an uprising on the ship.
The monument to the founders of Odessa was restored in 2007 on the initiative and sponsorship of Ruslan Tarpan and Oksana Shishovskaya. The bronze figure of Catherine the Great was re-cast at the art and production plant in Kyiv. The monument to the Potemkinites was moved to
porton Customs Square.
