Landmark of history of national importance. The remains are located at the confluence of the river Kamenka in the valley of the Dnieper, near the village. Republican. This Sich is a unique historical and archaeological landmark, since at the beginning of the 21st century it remained the only one that was more or less preserved, and also because all three of its main components were preserved here: kosh - which included kurens, treasury, Sich area; suburb - with production workshops, residential buildings, hams; Cossack cemetery - where the grave of the outstanding ataman Kostya Gordienko has been preserved (with a mound poured on it, which is also a unique historical object).
The Kamenskaya Sich was founded in 1709 by fugitives from the Chertomlitsky Sich, destroyed by order of Peter I. It existed until 1734. attraction structures. Minor archaeological work here was carried out on the border of the 19th and 20th centuries by D. Yavornitsky and V. Goshkevich. In the 1950-1970s. archaeological rescue excavations were carried out by B. Kopilov, O. Bodiansky and A. Sokulsky. Subsequent studies are related to the work in 1989-1991. joint expedition of the Institute of Archeology of the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and the historical and cultural reserve "Khortitsa". No less important component than the Sich itself in the complex of sightseeing objects is the grave of Kostya Gordienko, an outstanding figure in Ukrainian history.
The territory of the Kamenskaya Sich is a quadrangle with sides measuring 115x36x36 sazhens (sazhens = 2.13 meters). In the center there was a square for the Sich Council, on both sides of it there were semi-dugout kurens, outbuildings, and weapons depots. Archaeologists have discovered the remains of an adobe stove lined with tiles. In addition to tiles, clay pipes, glass goblets, and pieces of resin were found. The Sich did not last long - only two years: the tsarist troops drove the Cossacks to the left bank of the Dnieper. Near modern Tsyurupinsk, on the then territory of the Crimean Khanate, they established another Sich - Oleshkovskaya.
