Cathedral of Our Lady of Kasperovskaya
Cathedral of Kasperovskaya Mother of God
Ukraine, Mykolaiv
The Nikolaev Orthodox Cathedral of the Kasperovskaya Icon of the Mother of God, designed by the architect Fyodor Eppinger, was consecrated in 1908. The cathedral was erected to the glory of the ancestral icon of the Serbian family, who moved to the Kherson province in the village of Kasperovo, where since 1840 there have been numerous healings from various diseases. The Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church recognized the icon as miraculous, it became the only officially recognized miraculous icon in the South of Ukraine.
In the midst of the struggle against religion, in 1934 the building of the cathedral was transferred to the club. During the Second World War, the temple was opened for service, closed again in 1949. In 1992, the temple, returned to the Church, received the status of the cathedral of the Nikolaev and Epiphany diocese, its reconstruction began, which ended in 2012. A majestic gilded iconostasis was made, the roof of the temple was insulated, the temple was decorated with murals, heated floors were installed, the territory of the temple was streamlined.
