The Church of the Transfiguration in Velikie Sorochintsy is a vivid example of the church architecture of the Left-Bank Ukraine of the early 18th century in the Ukrainian Baroque style - the temple-tomb of the Hetman of the Left-Bank Ukraine, Daniil the Apostle. The church has preserved a unique wooden seven-tiered carved iconostasis, in which there are more than a hundred icons. In 1809, the future writer Nikolai Gogol was baptized in the Church of the Transfiguration of the Savior, whose
museum is located nearby. Hetman D. Apostol was buried in the crypt under the temple in 1734, later his family members — his wife and son — Mirgorod Colonel Pavel Apostol and his wife found their last refuge there. A monument to Hetman Apostol was erected next to the temple. The church has a Sunday school and a library of spiritual literature.
