Church of the Intercession
Church of the Intercession
Ukraine, Myrhorod
The Church of the Intercession of the Holy Mother of God in the Cossack baroque style in the village of Pleshivets is an architectural monument of the early 20th century. To replace a dilapidated wooden church, local residents turned to their fellow countryman, the rector of the Moscow Seminary, Archimandrite Parfeniy, for help, at whose expense a nine-domed church was built - a copy of the Trinity Cathedral in Novomoskovsk, Dnepropetrovsk region. The six-tiered gilded iconostasis of the church was lost in Soviet times, the bell tower was blown up in 1934, but the temple itself survived even after 7 shells hit it during the war. Located on a hill, the restored Holy Intercession Church, with its famous iconostasis, is visible from afar.
