The Alexander Nevsky Cathedral is the main Orthodox church in the city. It was founded in 1884 and was originally Armenian-Gregorian. After the revolution, it was closed, and resumed its activities in 1941 as an Orthodox church. In 2004, a reconstruction was carried out, the walls were re-painted and the iconostasis was replaced. The new blue-and-blue temple pleases parishioners and residents of the city.
