Elita Park
Ukraine, Melitopol
Elita Park in the valley of the Yushanla River was founded in the late 1880s as part of the estate of Heinrich Reimer, who owned Zarechny. The next owner of the estate, G.A. Klassen, expanded the park to 8 hectares by the beginning of the 20th century. The park has collected more than 70 varieties of trees and shrubs, many of which were ordered from abroad. In the park there was an estate with numerous outbuildings and the Klassen family cemetery, a pond with a boat station was dug, it was filled with water from an artesian well. Premises were built for breeding thoroughbred horses supplied to the stables of Russian emperors.
The oak alley leading to the pond is still preserved. From the estate-castle there are ruins and a gate-arch in the classical style. In 1980, Elita Park was declared a monument of landscape art of regional significance.
