The Monastery of St. Savva the Sanctified in Melitopol is the first monastery of the new Zaporozhye-Melitopol diocese, formed in 1992. The monastery was created as a male monastery on December 24, 1994 by the decision of the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. In October 2005, the construction of the main monastery church was completed, which has three chapels: the central one in honor of the icon of the Mother of God “Look for Humility”, the northern one in honor of the Beheading of John the Baptist and the southern one in honor of St. Sava the Sanctified, the heavenly patron of the monastery.
The monastery complex also includes the Vvedenskaya Church, the Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord, the rector's house, the fraternal building, a refectory and a hotel. Since the spring of 2007, the Center for the Rehabilitation of Alcoholics and Drug Addicts has been operating on the basis of the monastery, a Sunday church school for adults, and an icon-painting workshop have been operating.
