The Molochny Liman Hydrological Sanctuary is part of the Priazovskiy National Natural Park with a protected area of 22,458 ha. It is separated from the Sea of Azov by a sandy spit
Bersyp with a small channel that stabilizes the salinity of the water. Liman is a nesting place for many wetland bird species and a spawning ground for valuable species of freshwater and marine fish, primarily for the Black Sea and Azov pelengas, mullet. There are 14 species of rare plants and animals listed in the Red Book of Ukraine. In recent years, the channel has been silted up, the estuary dries up and becomes shallow, which can lead to the complete disappearance of its fauna. On the coast of the estuary there are 29 children's sports camps, boarding houses and recreation centers.
