The printing house of the Stavropegian Institute is located in the city center opposite the
Dominican Cathedral. It was built at the end of the 16th century, and acquired its modern look in 1788. It was here that the pioneer printer Ivan Fedorov produced his first books. And at the end of the 19th century, Epiphany Balanovich's "Church-Slavic alphabet for Old Believer schools" was printed here.
