Lviv railway station is located in the south-west of the city, just 2.5 km from the historical center. The railway was built in 1861 under the government of the Austrian Empire. In 1892, the railway became state property. And in 1904 the station was rebuilt due to the growth in passenger traffic. The facade of the building was decorated with two sculptures - a woman symbolizes the road and trade, and a man on a lion - industry and the city of Lviv. The main design element of the main lobby was the stained-glass window "Archangel Michael" with a panoramic view of Lviv in the background.
The station was badly damaged during World War II. In 2003, on the centenary of the construction, the station was restored.

Architecture lovers and travelers

From the outside, the stations are often beautiful, but inside ...a bunch of homeless people who are not driven by anyone, so the traveler has nowhere to sit ...But what made me glad that there is not only luggage storage (where it is better to come with 1 large suitcase than with 3 small ones backpacks), but also capacious automatic lockers, on which 15 kopecks are also written (actually 45 hryvnias, but not 140 as in the usual luggage storage). Toilets are paid. The ascents to the platforms are also strange and inconvenient for suitcases on wheels and prams.→

Just like in Harry Potter

There are not so many stations in the world in which platforms are located inside a covered area. Lviv railway station is one of them. The huge space under the transparent roof creates a special, difficult to convey, but definitely pleasant feeling. In addition, the Lviv railway station is also interesting because it was the first railway station in Ukraine. But the road to the station is a terrible pavement. The good thing is that the center is within easy reach, and you can walk on foot if you have backpacks.→
