The Church of St. Anthony in Lviv is a functioning Roman Catholic church located in the historical area of Lychakiv, on Lychakivska Street, 49a.
The Church of St. Anthony was founded by the princes Vyshnevetsky for the Franciscan monks in 1718. In 1784, the church became a parish church and its modern church building was built on the site of the former wooden one. In 1818, according to the project of the architect I. Markl, a bell tower was erected, and in 1845 the interior was painted. In 1909, the construction of the central portal was completed. The painting of vaults, sculptural compositions and bas-reliefs have been preserved. The bell tower, the main staircase and sculptures on the stairs and in the courtyard form a single ensemble with the monument. Together they make up the finest examples of a small Rococo complex.
In the 1960s, part of its territory was seized from the church, where the cemetery and garden were located, the wall was dismantled from the side of Lysenko and Malaya streets. A well-maintained square was arranged on the site of the garden. In 2003-2004, the utility room of the church was built on the territory of this public garden.
The church belongs to the Roman Catholic Church and services are held in Polish, Ukrainian, Russian and Latvian.
