The Holy Intercession Church is the oldest of the Orthodox churches in Lutsk, an architectural monument of the 17th-19th centuries, the cathedral of the Lutsk and Volyn diocese. It was built on the ancient Russian foundations of early temples, reaching a depth of five meters. The building of the Holy Intercession Church was repeatedly dismantled, rebuilt and completed. In 1637, a major overhaul of the temple was carried out, which was faced with brick, and the altar was expanded. In the years 1803-1880, the Intercession Church served as a cathedral, while in 1803-1826 it was Greek Catholic, in 1826-1880 it was Orthodox. In 1873-1876, its roof was decorated with domes, a bell tower was attached to the church.
The current interior of the church includes an iconostasis from 1887, frescoes from 1932 and 1966. Until 1962, one of the oldest and most revered icons in the country, the Volyn Mother of God, was located in the Holy Intercession Church, which was later transferred to the
National Art Museum of Ukraine.
