The Museum of Volyn Icons, established in 1993 as a branch of the Volyn Museum of Local Lore, presents collections of Volyn iconography in a purpose-built two-story building. The museum's collection includes more than 1.5 thousand samples of sacred art, some of which were identified and selected for further restoration in 1976-1985, during scientific expeditions of the local history museum in the Volyn region. In 8 halls of the museum you can see more than 600 icons of the 16th-19th centuries, salaries and icon cases, crucifixion crosses, royal gates, church utensils.
A separate hall is dedicated to the most valuable exhibit - the Byzantine icon of the Kholm Mother of God (XI-XII centuries) - the oldest icon in Ukraine. According to legend, it was written in Jerusalem by the apostle-evangelist Luke. Since 1944, the family of the Orthodox priest Gavrila Korobchuk kept the icon, in 2000 the icon was transferred to the museum.

Museum of Sacred Art

The Museum presents the works of masters of the Volyn School of Icon Painting of the XVI-XVIII centuries. Now there is an exhibition "Heavenly army. Images of holy warriors on the Volyn icons of the XVII-XIX centuries", where you can, for example, see the image of St. George the Victorious in different interpretations. The exhibition will last until August 31 - hurry to see. The museum is open: from 10.00 to 18.00, on Sunday - until 17.00, weekends - Wednesday, Saturday. Cost: entrance 20 hryvnias.→
