Intercession Convent is located between Kontraktova Square and Kyiv Zoo. It was opened in 1889. The main monastery church is St. Nicholas Cathedral, which is the largest church in Kyiv. It was built in the Old Russian style and can accommodate more than 2,000 parishioners. The monastery includes the Church of the Intercession and three other small churches. Intercession Convent belongs to the Kiev diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate.
