The monument-sculpture "Motherland" is located on the banks of the Dnieper to the south of Kiev-Pechersk Lavra. It was installed in 1981 and is part of the National Museum of the History of the Great Patriotic War. A 62-meter figure of a woman holding a sword and shield rises on a 40-meter pedestal. The monument weighs 450 tons. There is an observation deck on the shield of the statue.
