On November 3, 1943, troops of the 1st Ukrainian Front launched the Kiev strategic offensive operation from the Lyutezh bridgehead in the village of Novye Petrivtsy and on November 6, 1943, liberated the capital of Ukraine, Kiev, from German invaders. It was at this place that the command and observation post of the First Ukrainian Front was located. On the protected area of 9.2 hectares, 650 m of formation passages, a dugout and command and observation posts of General of the Army G. Vatutin have been preserved. Today there is the State Museum-Reserve "Battle for Kyiv in 1943".
