The largest ostrich farm in Ukraine is located in one of the picturesque corners of the Kiev region, just half an hour from the capital, in the village of Yasnogorodka, Makarovsky district, 30 kilometers from the Kiev ring road.
The territory of the main field of the farm alone occupies almost two dozen hectares, and sixty more are allotted for growing fodder. The breeding stock of ostriches was brought in in April 2001, and a month later, in June, the first Kiev ostriches were born. The total number of ostriches, of different ages, at the same time on the farm exceeds two hundred. A dozen specialists serve the birds, who simultaneously conduct scientific and breeding work. Ostriches perfectly adapted to the Ukrainian climate and domestic food.
The Yasnogorodskaya ostrich farm accepts collective applications for excursions with rest on the territory of the farm. For small children there is a playground next to the Ostrich Valley tavern. The territory is bordered by a stream with ponds. Those who wish can see the families of adult ostriches, one-year-old birds born on the farm, ostriches from one day to three months old, ostrich eggs, skin, feathers.
