Feofaniya historical area
Feofaniya
Ukraine, Kyiv
Feofaniya is a historical area on the territory of the Goloseevsky district of the city of Kyiv. Feofania (Lazarevshchina, Shakhravshchina) is located between Teremki, Goloseev and Pirogov. The oldest part of it is located along Academician Lebedev Street and around St. Panteleimon's Church. The area was first mentioned in 1471 as Lazarevshchina; then it belonged to the Kiev manager Hodik. It is believed that the name came from the name of a certain monk-beekeeper Lazarus. The modern name of the area has existed since 1803 - it was then that the first Kyiv vicar, Bishop Feofan Shiyanov, settled here, who was allocated a plot of land for improvement. Since 1919, it was a suburban state farm, and later medical institutions of various departments, the main observatory and the field experimental laboratory of the Institute of Botany of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine were located here.
In 1972, the Feofaniya tract was declared a reminder park, since 1992 it has the status of a reminder park of landscape art of national importance, subordinated to the Feofaniya State Reserve of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. Since 2003, the recreation area near the ponds has been reconstructed with the construction of sewerage, water supply, gazebos, fountains, paved paths, shore lining, etc. It is planned to organize public catering points and a checkpoint with a parking lot.
The St. Panteleimon Monastery and the Institute of Theoretical Physics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine are located in the area of Feofaniya. In the Goloseevsky forest near Feofaniya there is the Clinical Hospital "Feofaniya" of the State Administration of Affairs.
