The Kaniv Nature Reserve covers an area of more than 2,000 hectares in the Cherkasy region of the same name. It was founded in 1923. The reserve includes ravines and wooded hills on the right bank of the Dnieper, as well as islands on the Kanev reservoir. 990 species of vascular plants and more than 1200 species of fungi grow here, and the diverse fauna includes many animals listed in the International Red Book.
