The Zaharzhevskaya Tower is located on a steep slope of the right bank of the Smotrych between City and Polish Gates of the Old Town of Kamenetz- Podolsky. The tower, erected at the end of the 16th - beginning of the 17th centuries at a height of 13 m from the river level, was a sentinel and guarded the road under the rock and the ford through Smotrych. The round stone tower has two tiers with a wooden ceiling, the floor of the tower is a rock. There are loopholes in the wall of the second tier. In the 18th century, the second tier of the tower lost its military significance, so its loopholes were laid from the inside, the roof was replaced with a flat ceiling, which was covered with earth.

In 1966, as a result of the impact of groundwater, which washed away the rocky base of the tower, part of the rock and the tower wall collapsed. In 1983-1987, according to one of the projects of Evgenia Plamenitskaya, the tower was restored to its original form, but the fire of 2001 significantly worsened the appearance of the architectural monument.
