Russian gate with towers and fortifications - a complex of buildings of the XV century. The Russian Gate is located in the ravine of the Smotrych River. The exact date of construction of the gate is unknown. Researchers believe that the gate was built in the XV-XVI centuries. The fortifications consisted of 4 defensive towers, a barbican and defensive walls 230 m long, which crossed the river valley. The complex of the Russian Gate also included locks. At the beginning of the XIX century. Russian gates, like the castle lost their defensive value and began to be used as warehouses.→
