Rozhanka is a four-tiered round tower 15 meters high on the northwestern corner of the
Old Fortress in Kamyanets-Podilsky, near the former castle gates. Opposite the Rozhanka tower was the Water (Smotrytskaya) tower, which was connected to Rozhanka by an underground passage. From the Water Tower, the ruins of which are visible in the canyon of the Smotrych River, the soldiers of the fortress used a wheel to draw water. Next to Rozhanka is the Lyantskoronskaya tower of similar architecture, but, unlike the Lyantskoronskaya tower, the stone dome of Rozhanka is hidden by a shingled conical dome mounted on a brick parapet, which makes the Rozhanka tower unique.
When the
fortress was turned into a prison in the 19th century, Rozhanka was turned into a clothing warehouse for prisoners. A commemorative plaque attached to the tower says that Rozhanka was built in 1505 at the expense of Bishop Kreslav of Kurozvenki.
