The Holy Intercession Cathedral is an architectural monument of the 19th century in the style of classicism. It consists of two thrones: the main one - in the name of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos, consecrated in 1831, and on the choir stalls - in the name of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, consecrated in 1848. In 1848, the wooden bell tower was replaced with a three-tier stone one, 65 meters high, connected to the cathedral by a covered gallery. The bells were cast from captured Turkish guns provided by order of Emperor Nicholas I. By the centenary of the cathedral in 1931, a clock with three dials and a strike every half an hour was installed on the fifth tier of the bell tower. The colonnade and portico above the central entrance to the cathedral were completed with public funds in 1937–1938 during the Romanian rule. In 2006, the overhaul of the cathedral was completed, which lasted 7 years.
In the Holy Intercession Cathedral, a shrine is kept - the Crucifixion of the Lord Jesus Christ (Golgotha). In addition, there are many icons of saints, including the miraculous icon of the Most Holy Theotokos the Redeemer, brought from Athos.
