Trinity wooden church in Khmilnyk was built in 1603. from 1672 to 1699, the city was captured by the Turks, who placed a garrison here, and a mosque was built in the church. When the Turks left, the church burned down, was restored in stone in the Tuscan baroque style, expanded and re-consecrated in 1728 as the temple of the Beheading of John the Baptist. The last reconstruction was carried out at the beginning of the 20th century, when oil painting appeared on the walls of the church. In the 1930s, the temple building was used as a grain warehouse and a forge, the service was resumed during the German occupation of 1941-43, and has not stopped since then.
In 1974, an organ brought as a gift from Riga was installed in the church. At the same time, the main entrance to the courtyard had to be moved to another place, due to the expansion of the central road. Nearby is
Count Xido's castle-palace.
