Palace-castle of Count Xido

Palace-castle of Count Xido
Ukraine, Khmilnyk
The estate of Count Ksido on Castle Hill was built in such a way that on the one hand we see a classical palace with columns at the entrance, and on the other - a castle with walls and a tower. Palace designed by architect I. Fomina was attached in 1913-15 to the octagonal tower and walls, preserved from the fortress of the 16th century. Construction was not completed due to the outbreak of the First World War, and then the revolution, which forced the count to leave the country. Various institutions were located on his estate at different times, now the building is in disrepair. The castle offers a beautiful view of the Southern Bug and almost the entire city.

Quite an interesting, albeit very neglected building with a peculiar history. A kind of "two in one": on the one hand - the landowner's estate, on the other - the castle. In its current form, with trees growing on the roof - downright romantic decadence)))).
