In 1579, the headman Jan Potocki began the construction of a stone castle in Letychiv, instead of the previously built wooden one. In 1606, Dominican monks appeared in this area with an icon of the Mother of God - a copy of an icon from St. Peter's Cathedral in Rome. One day, local residents saw a glow around the icon, rising to heaven. Shocked, Potocki converted from Protestantism to Catholicism and presented the castle to the Dominicans, allocated money for the construction of a temple here. In 1778, the Vatican recognized the Letychiv icon of the Mother of God as miraculous, and the monastery became its repository.

During the Second World War, a concentration camp was located outside the monastery walls; in Soviet times, warehouses were arranged here. In 1989, the temple was returned to the parish of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, in 1997 it was re-consecrated, and its restoration is underway. In front of the castle tower there is a monument to the national hero, the leader of the Haidamaks, Ustim Karmalyuk, who was buried here.

Catholic shrine.
The monastery, in its current form - a church, has been renovated and looks very good both from the outside and from the inside. The monument to Karmelyuk is impressive. The remains of the castle-fortress are very fragmentary. Visited as part of an excursion to Medzhybizh from Khmelnyk, with a stop for 20-30 minutes.→
