Gosprom is the first high-rise building in the Soviet Union and the first reinforced concrete building. The complex was built in 1925-1928 to accommodate the administrations of state trusts, trade organizations, a bank, several ministries - Kharkov at that time was the capital of the Ukrainian SSR. The House of the State Industry, located on
Svoboda Square, consists of nine buildings connected by passages arranged at different levels. After installation in 1955 on the roof of the highest of the buildings of the complex television tower, the height of Gosprom is 108 meters.
Gosprom, as an architectural monument in the style of constructivism, has been repeatedly mentioned in literature and art. In 2004, on the occasion of the 350th anniversary of Kharkiv, the National Bank issued a commemorative 5-hryvnia coin with a view of Gosprom on the reverse side.
