Ascension Cathedral (Izyum)
Ascension Cathedral (Іzyum), Holy Ascension Cathedral, Ascension Church
Ukraine, Kharkiv
Holy Ascension Cathedral in Izyum is the cathedral church of the Izyum and Kupyansk diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The construction of the cathedral began in 1819 to replace a dilapidated church in the Peski settlement, which later merged with the city. Due to lack of money, the cathedral was built and consecrated only in 1826. The Cathedral gained fame because of the miraculous icon of the Peschanskaya Mother of God located in it, to which people come who want to be cured of various diseases. In the temple there are other ancient prayer icons: St. Nicholas, Great Martyr Panteleimon, George the Victorious, John the Warrior; relics of saints.
Not far from the cathedral is the healing spring "Kirichenkova Krinitsa" with a chapel-bath.
