The monument to Taras Shevchenko in Kharkiv - one of the best monuments in the world to the great poet, the work of sculptor Matvey Manizer and architect Iosif Langbard - was erected in March 1935 near the entrance to the
city garden named after T. G.Shevchenko. The monument is a monument 16 meters high, with a statue of Taras Shevchenko on the central pylon, around which there are 16 bronze symbolic statues of fighters for their freedom: heroes of Shevchenko's works, participants in the revolution in Russia, people of labor during the industrialization of the 1930s. During the creation of the figures, the actors of the Kharkiv theater "Berezil" posed for the sculptor.
Over time, the monument to Taras Shevchenko has become one of the main attractions of Kharkov.
