The Museum of Folk Art of Slobozhanshchina was opened in 1991 in Kharkiv as a department of the
art museum, and since 1994 it has been its branch. The Museum of Folk Art of Slobozhanshchina is located in a building erected in 1896 by architect A.N. Beketov for a women's Sunday school. The museum's collection of more than 1,200 exhibits presents the main types of folk art of Sloboda Ukraine - painting, embroidery by craftswomen of the 19th century, weaving and pottery, wood and bone carving, weaving from beads and vines. Together with the National Union of Folk Art Masters, the museum holds joint events dedicated to folk art - exhibitions, seminars, conferences, meetings with folk craftsmen.
