Church of St. George

The wooden church of St. George, included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, is a masterpiece of Galician architecture. It was brought from the Carpathian region and installed in 1656 instead of the burnt church, and the construction itself dates back to the end of the 15th - beginning of the 16th century. The three-frame church with a square nave is elegant both outside and inside. Its interior is painted with Meditsky frescoes.

Wooden church
Atmospheric. A wooden church with a painting on wood. It has a single miraculous icon, the iconostasis is currently under restoration. In fact, it is not an actor, but it works to order - weddings, christenings of children and as a tourist attraction. I have not seen similar analogues in Ukraine. Those who are interested must visit. Entrance 100 UAH/person, 50 UAH for the second floor, 100 UAH for photography→

One of the oldest churches in Galicia in Drohobych
Last year I had a chance to visit a very interesting city in Western Ukraine, which tourists often unfairly bypass - Drohobych. There are many interesting places here - the Town Hall, cathedrals, etc. But the old wooden church of St. George made the greatest impression on me. It was built in the 15th century and acquired its final form in 1678. It is famous for its unique interior paintings and no less unique iconostasis of the middle of the 17th century. This is a wooden three-parted (trisrubnaya) church in plan with a square main navoi and two faceted side wings (conchs).→
