The Transfiguration Cathedral is located in the eastern part of the city near
Karl Marx Avenue. It was built in 1835 in the classical style. In Soviet times, the temple was closed, there was a museum of religion and atheism. Since 1992, the Transfiguration Cathedral has belonged to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate. Many Orthodox shrines are kept here: the icons “Weeping Savior”, “Iberian”, “Samara”, particles of the relics of Saints Matthew, Luke, Mark.
