Ukraine, Chernivtsi
Turkish Krinitsa Square in Chernivtsi was opened in 2008, on the occasion of the 600th anniversary of the city, in one of the oldest parts of the main city of Bukovina. In the 17th century, the Turkish community lived in this area of the Lower City. The Turks erected a stone reservoir for drinking water near the old wooden well, with the supply of which there were interruptions in the city. After the departure of the Turks from Bukovina in 1775, the well was cleaned and served for the celebration of Epiphany. The water from this spring was also used for a nearby Jewish ritual pool.
On the site of modern streets Turetskaya and P. Sagaydachnogo, in the area of the square there was a deep moat with a stream through which one could pass on a bridge built in the 19th century. The area and the bridge began to be called Turkish. The reconstruction of the well was carried out by a Turkish construction company, a flower clock was opened on the square, an oriental-style pavilion was built, a gazebo with a fountain, and a large forged bicycle monument was erected.
