Church of the Nativity of the Virgin
Church of the Rizdva of the Mother of God
Ukraine, Brovary
The Church of the Nativity of the Virgin in the village of Gogolev, Brovarsky District, was built in the traditional Orthodox style in 1827 on the site of an earlier Cossack church. In 1862-64, instead of a dilapidated wooden church, a new one was built, also wooden, but on a stone foundation, a wooden two-tiered bell tower with a spherical dome was erected nearby. In 1880, another reconstruction took place, during which the church was expanded, exterior wall paintings were added depicting angels, saints and the “all-seeing eye”. In 1960, the temple was closed, in 1988 services were resumed, in March 1998, a bell weighing 550 kg was donated to the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin.
