Mosque Malindi

Malindi Moscow
Tanzania, Zanzibar_city
Malindi is one of the oldest mosques in Zanzibar. It is located in Stone Town, 450 meters from the ferry terminal. The mosque was built by Sunnis in the early 19th century. A distinctive feature of the mosque is its architecture. It does not look like typical Muslim shrines at all. The minaret of the mosque has a conical shape and is one of three such in East Africa. The tower of the minaret rises up not from the ground, as is usual with Muslim mosques, but from a square platform. The people of Zanzibar are very proud of this shrine.

The mosque is located in the Stone Town area, not far from the entrance to the harbor. The mosque is quite old, small. The architecture of the building is really interesting. It is not like all the other mosques in the city. Only Muslims are allowed to enter, but if you are properly dressed and polite, you will be allowed inside. The entrance is up the narrow side of the alley. Interior decoration in Muslim style.. Do you want to see with your own eyes? Tours to Zanzibar - Travel Agency "Hot Line", www.
