The Golden Horn or Halich is a bay in the Bosporus. The name of the bay comes from the Greek Chrysokeras, which means "Golden Horn".
The Golden Horn is a bay of the Bosphorus, deeply protruding into the land, of a curved shape. The bay is 12.2 km long, 91–122 m wide, and 47 m deep. In the western part, two streams flow into the bay: Ali-bei-su (ancient Kidaros) and Kiat-khane-su (ancient Barbizes). On both banks - the European part of the largest city in Turkey - Istanbul. There are four bridges across the bay: the Galata Bridge, the Old Galata Bridge (not in operation), the Ataturk Bridge and the Halich Bridge.
