Tunel

Tünel, Tunnel, Underground funicular, Tunnel
Turkey, Istanbul
Tunel is an old underground funicular that was opened on January 17, 1875. It connects only two stations Karakoy and Beyoglu. The last large-scale reconstruction of the branch was made in 1971. The old worn-out wooden cars of the tunnel were replaced with metal ones. Tunel is one of the oldest and one of the shortest metro lines in the world.

Many guidebooks in Istanbul advise using the funicular (Tunel) to go up to Istiklal Street. Interestingly, the funicular in Istanbul is underground. Basically, nothing special. Such a public mode of transport.
