Beyazit Square is located in the quarter of the same name in the old part of Istanbul, on the site of the former Byzantine forum, of which almost nothing remains today. The square got its modern name in honor of the
Bayezid Mosque located here, built during the reign of Sultan Bayezid II.
It is a place where religion, education and commerce come together, because in addition to the mosque, the main entrance of Istanbul University and the
Grand Bazaar gate are also located here.
