Today, the Yildiz complex includes several palaces, a number of pavilions, a ceramic factory and a picturesque park with exotic trees and flowers. The entire complex was built in the 19th century. and served as the residence of the Ottoman rulers during the reign of Sultan Abdul-Hamid II. Initially, Yildiz Park was built as a walking area near the Yildiz Palace, and in those days only members of the Sultan's family and his entourage had access here.
Yıldız Palace is a large snow-white building surrounded by walls, in which elements of various styles are embodied. Unlike other Sultan's palaces, it does not have a division into female and male halves. It surprises with the luxury and magnificence of its interiors, in which every detail testifies to the wealth and power of the Ottoman rulers. Now the City Museum is located here, which presents household items, paintings and glassware and porcelain of the 18th-19th centuries. (paid entrance).
Yildiz Park is worthy of special attention, as it is decorated with artificial ponds and fountains, and on its territory there are Chalets, Chadir and the Maltese Pavilion, as well as a porcelain manufactory. This park is especially beautiful in spring, when thousands of tulips bloom in it.
The park offers a beautiful view of the
Bosphorus, and cafes are arranged in two pavilions. The park is also a popular recreation area for locals.
