I have been to Side so many times and have never gone to a museum there. Finally got there! The museum made a huge impression on me, I am very pleased that I got there. The museum is not large, in the premises of the Roman baths (terms). It was quite hot in early October, air conditioners were working inside the halls. The spectacle is amazing from the very beginning - the entrance to a small courtyard - with the remains of columns, bas-reliefs, decor. ! There are signs with the translation of words from the broken stelae...you can understand for what event the stele/column was erected. The courtyard is decorated in antique style - amphoras, white marble columns against the backdrop of a rose garden, emerald grass and pine trees. Peacocks walk on the grass and a rooster with hens of a special breed with fluffy legs) ...shops. The courtyard overlooks the sea, there is an absolutely wonderful gazebo all entwined with vineyards - the view of the bay is simply amazing ..
it's nice to sit in the shade of pine trees, a huge eucalyptus tree on a bench or in a gazebo and just feel the tranquility and historical spirit of the place ...everything goes well with the museum atmosphere and white marble exhibits! Inside the term there are three halls - with the remains of pools, a fountain and baths. Exhibits, almost like in the Pushkin Museum - in the Greek Hall - sarcophagi, statues of a discus thrower, Athena, Dionysus. Bas-reliefs of profiles, ornaments, coins, amphoras, glass bottles for perfumery… the inscriptions are all understandable (in English), a lot of information about the creator of the museum and a prominent Turkish archaeologist, whom Atatü rk entrusted with the creation of archeology as a direction of art and science in the young Republic of Turkey. Entrance - 10 lira (about 3 euros). Be sure to go to this small, but such an interesting and pleasant museum on the shore.
