Nimara Cave
Nimara Cave, Nemara Cave
Turkey, Marmaris
Nimar Cave is located on the northwestern slope of the Paradise (or Heavenly) island of Marmaris at an altitude of 350 meters. It is located southwest of the ancient settlement on the top of the island. In ancient times, it was used by people who lived in this settlement. In the cave, they worshiped the goddess Leto, who was the mother of Apollo and Artemis.
Bone arrowheads with a dissected base, found in a cave during excavations, belonged to a type of tool that first appeared in the Aurignacian culture, which belonged to the early stage of the late Paleolithic and was located in western Europe (upper Garonne, France). Chisels and chisels made of obsidian, as well as their parts, found in the cave, were dated to 20-10 thousand years BC, and thus extended the previously known time span of the existence of settlements on the territory of Marmaris from 3000 BC to 3000 BC. e. before 20,000 BC
