City and Bay of Phaselis

Phaselis, Phaselis, Phaselis
Turkey, Kemer
Phaselis is a city of ancient Lycia, which was founded in the 7th century BC. e. colonists from the island of Rhodes, led by Lakaios, on a small peninsula protruding into the Mediterranean Sea. Phaselis is located on the road to Tekirova, 16 km from the city of Kemer (60 km from Antalya) among the lush pine and cedar trees of the natural park.
The city has an important geographical position and three harbors: one is located in the north of the peninsula, another in the northeast, and the third in the southwest.
Most of the surviving ruins date from the Roman and Byzantine periods and are located on the main street connecting the north and south harbours. In the theater and agora area there is a small square, on the southeast side of which a staircase leads to the theater and the acropolis. Built in the 4th century BC. e. on the slope of the acropolis, the theater of Phaselis is relatively small (its 20 rows are designed for 3 thousand people) and is a typical example of an amphitheater of the Hellenistic period.
To the right of the entrance to the city are the most ancient walls of the city fortress (3rd century BC), as well as the ruins, most likely of a temple or a monumental crypt. On the slopes beyond the northern harbor is the city cemetery. The most impressive ruins of Phaselis are the aqueduct towering over the car park. There were three agoras in the city: one opposite the theater, the other two on the right side of the main street leading to the southern harbour. The city baths in the area of the city square are also impressive. In two necropolises of the city there are tombs with lids depicting figures of Eros and lions.
On the eastern slope of the acropolis, the ruins of two temples are visible - the temple of Pallas Athena and the temple of the god of trade Hermes. The artifacts discovered during the excavations are stored in the Antalya Museum.

We went on our own to Phaselis from the village of Kirish (husband + two-year-old daughter). We drove on dolmus # 01 to the central square of Kemer (from an adult 4 lira, go 7 minutes, always in masks), there we went to the opposite side and at the stop sat in dolmus # 08 to Phaselis (6 lira per adult, min. 25-30). Entrance from an adult 45 lira. From the box office to the ruins you have to walk somewhere 1-1.5 km, on a good road under the open sun. Then there will be trees, you can hide in the shade.

We rested in Kemer in September 2019. Visited for the first time with my son Phaselis in 2015. We decided to visit this beautiful place again. This time we went the other way. This time we rode a dolmush from Kemer from a stop at the Clock Tower. The fare per person is 6 Turkish Liras. On the windshield there should be an inscription Tekirova, Phaselis Antik, Chamyuva, Kirish, Kemer. Payment occurs at the end of the trip. Dolmush will take you to the checkpoint. You must buy a ticket at the box office.

Rested with family in Kemer. We could not refuse with our son the pleasure of visiting this beautiful place again. No sooner said than done. We came to the Clock Tower to stop dolmush. they waited for the right one, which had the inscription Kemer-Kirish-Chamyuova-Faselis-Antik-Tekirova on the windshield. In 2015, the fare from Tekirova cost 3 Turkish liras. But in 2019, the fare from Kemer cost 6 Turkish liras. Accordingly, for one person. The trip did not take long and we are standing in front of the ticket office.

Have visited this place. Not bad. An unusual atmosphere of antiquity reigns, around the ruins ...History buffs will appreciate it. The beaches are interesting and not similar to each other, a swimsuit is a must. The price of the entrance ticket is 36 lire. Course: 1 dollar - approx. 5.5 lira, not cheap ...We liked the walk along the Goynuk Canyon much more.

We went on our own to Phaselis, the ancient city, from Kiris. By bus to the final Kemer (there is a square and a high clock tower) and asked the driver for a bus to Phaselis, they told us. The bus goes directly to the gate, the fare is 9 lira, the entrance to this open-air museum costs 36 lira (only lira is accepted). A very interesting place. It's a peninsula, lots of ruins, beautiful beaches, so take your swimsuit. Many Turks come there for a picnic. After paying the entrance for some time, you need to go straight along the road along the forest, in some places there are remains of masonry.

I rested at the Marti Myra hotel in April 2018. It is located in Tekirova, not far from the ancient city of Phaselis. I wanted to visit this city on my own. In a street travel agency I found out how to get there. They told me everything and helped me get on a regular regular bus that goes to Kemer. Along the way, he also stops at Phaselis. The fare is 3.5 lira. Entrance to the city costs 6 dollars. Then I went on my own. You walk through the forest thicket, surrounded by Mediterranean pines. Cars passed by on the road.

In September 2015, we rested in the village of Tekirova. We decided with our son to visit this ancient city on our own, after reading the reviews of tourists about visiting these beautiful places. At the final stop in the village of Tekirova, they boarded a dolmush going to Kemer. They told the Phaselis antique driver, paid 6 Turkish liras for two and drove off. Dolmush brought us to the checkpoint. We purchased tickets worth 10 TL per person. And presenting tickets to the controllers, they went to enjoy the antiquities.

Today I visited the ancient city of Phaselis and its beaches. I agree with all the rave reviews. The place is really very beautiful. But everything is in order. We got from Kemer by a local minibus. They asked if an antique was going to Phaselis, and paid 4.5 Turkish lira per person for the trip. The bus brings you directly to the entrance gate. Entrance fee is 20 lire per person. You have to pay for all the pleasures in life : ). On the way (not very stressful, the road passes through a pine forest) we descended directly into the ruins of the ancient city themselves.

After visiting Turkey, we visited Phaselis Bay. They got to the bay by sea on a ship from Kemer. The bay is just a heavenly place - the bluest and purest water! The bay is surrounded by mountains, which gives it a more secluded feel. Far from the bay are the ruins of the ancient city of Phaselis, but we didn’t go there, we sat and enjoyed the beauty of the bay. By the way, you can stand there with tents. I imagine what a beautiful sunrise can be found in this place!
