Mosque of Murat Pasha
Tekeli Mehmet Pasha Mosque, Tekeli Mehmet Pasha Camii
Turkey, Antalya
The Tekeli Mehmet Pasha Mosque, which became the most important Ottoman mosque in the city in the 18th century, is located in the Kaleici district, behind the Clock Tower.
The central dome of the mosque, placed on a high support, is supported by three semi-arches, one each in the eastern, western and southern parts of the structure, as well as three domes on the northern side of the mosque. Inside the mosque and on the windows of its northern facade, one can see tiled panels with inscriptions made in the ta'liq script, one of the Arabic calligraphy scripts.
Neither the name of the author of the project nor the date of construction of the mosque are known. However, based on the results of many years of research, historians believe that it was built between 1593-1607.
