Alanya fortress

Alanya Kalesi, Alanya Castle
Turkey, Alanya
The medieval fortress is located on a rocky peninsula protruding into the Mediterranean Sea, which protects it from three sides. Most of it was built in the 13th century on top of a hill and surrounded by a 6.5 km long wall with 140 towers. At the very top of the hill, located in its western part, at an altitude of 250 meters above sea level, the ruins of the castle rise. The castle was built in the 13th century by the Seljuk sultan Ala-ad-din Kay-Kubad on the site of earlier fortifications of the Byzantine and Roman periods. The castle had several gates, most of them are now destroyed.
Currently, the fortress has been turned into an open-air museum. Entrance to the castle is paid, but most of the fortress can be viewed for free. The road to the castle is very narrow, but open to traffic. The walk to the top of the hill takes approximately 1 hour.

Hey! I propose to look at the fortress of Alanya with different eyes In this issue you will find a video about a trip to sunny Alanya. We will go to places where many of you have never even been. We will see the ships in the marina of Alanya and how they are being prepared for the new tourist season. We will go for a morning workout to the lighthouse of Alanya and to the observation deck I Love Alanya. A trail to the walls of the Alanya Fortress awaits you, where guides definitely don’t go, but it’s definitely worth going there.

We rested at the Perre Delta Resort & Spa. Before leaving, we decided to go on our own to Alanya. A bus stops near the hotel (every 15 minutes), it says Alanya, Okucialar, etc. , take it, 50 minutes, and you are in the center of Alanya! The price is 20 lira for two people one way (it's about 3 dollars). We arrived in the center of Alanya, walked past the market to the Cleopatra beach (walk for 15-20 minutes). Near the beach there is a ski lift (Price photo attached) We got 64 lire for two (one way).

We lived on the side of the island where the lighthouse is located, and got to the fortress from this side of Alanya on foot (although on the other side of Alanya, from the one where Cleopatra Beach is located, you can climb to the fortress by funicular). The road, by the way, is not as difficult as it seems from below, the rise may be long, but smooth (if you go from the city center along the route laid out by Google maps). There is another version of the path, we went down along it, it is shorter and therefore more difficult.

I got to the fortress of Alanya - IchKale - by Teleferik (local cable car). After that there was a strong climb up the stairs and, finally, the longed-for entrance to the fortress. The fortress itself is quite large, without a guide, I quickly got lost and left the path, cut off a large piece and went to its end, not even knowing it. Along the way of my route, there were very beautiful views of Cleopatra Beach, the city and the harbor. Upstairs in the fortress is full of cafes with drinks and sweets, the prices are normal, as for a tourist area.

Resting in Alanya, it is definitely worth climbing the fortress, which offers a gorgeous view of the city, the embankment, Cleopatra Beach. The path is pretty easy. We climbed by cable car, then along hiking trails. At the very top, where the observation deck is located, the entrance is paid, but it's worth it. Photos turn out awesome. Recomend for everybody.

We climbed the fortress on a local shuttle bus, walked around the fortress, then walked for about 20 minutes to the cable car and went down the cable car. Impressive. But wear comfortable shoes. looking at the tourists it was possible without looking at the face and without hearing the speech to say who is from Russia. All of us were in flip flops! ))))

I love Alanya very much, just my love, I drive like home. The fortress and the red tower are like a visiting card of the city. You can climb it easily, and by cable car, and by car, and even on foot. Take your cameras, some water and take cool photos, the view from there is simply amazing!

The views are beautiful, just like in the case of the Red Tower, but there is nothing else to do here, everything is closed. You will spend a lot of energy looking down on the city. Let the Turks forgive me, but this is absolutely not interesting. Probably the fortress has a big and long, bearded history, but you can’t see it with your eyes, you can’t feel it with your hands. I do not advise
