Kerkouane, Kerkuane
Tunis, Nabeul
Kerkuan is a large Punic city that stood on a rock protruding into the sea at Cape Bon.
In 1985, UNESCO declared the ruins of Kerkuan and its necropolis a World Heritage site of mankind as the most complete settlement of the Punic period. Items discovered during the excavations of Kerkuan and the necropolis are exhibited in the nearby archaeological museum, which opened in 1986.
