House of Georg Sebastian
George Sebastian Villa, House of George Sebastian
Tunis, Hammamet
In 1920, the wealthy Romanian architect Georg Sebastian arrived in Hammamet. He built an unusual villa here. It is decorated with cypress trees, the pool is surrounded by columns, and in the bedrooms there are antique mirrors and Roman baths. Many celebrities have been here: Andre Gide and Maupassant, Flaubert and Georges Bernanos, Churchill and the English King George VI.
An amphitheater is located in the garden, where an international festival of music and dramatic art is organized annually in July and August.
