The famous Buddhist temple "Doi Suthep" is located on the top of the mountain of the same name, rising more than 1070 meters above sea level. The construction of the sacred temple dates back to the fourteenth century. The road leading to the temple was built in the first half of the twentieth century. Now the temple can be reached by climbing 309 steps or using the funicular.
