Jim Thompson House
Jim Thompson House, Silk Museum
Thailand, Bangkok
The Silk Museum is officially called the James Thompson House Museum, named after the man who, after World War II, restored silk production in Thailand when the country was in a difficult economic situation. It is in his former house that the Silk Museum exists today. He left both the house and his rich collection of artifacts to organize a museum, and he himself mysteriously disappeared in 1967.
The house itself is remarkable - beautifully decorated, built in the traditional Thai style. Around the museum there is a garden, which can be considered one of the exhibits of the museum.
In addition to the collection of silk, looms and other items related to the production of fabrics, the museum has a fine collection of antiques, which James Thompson collected all his life.
