The Slavin Memorial, one of the largest in Central Europe, was inaugurated on April 3.1960. The remains of Soviet soldiers who died during the liberation of various towns and villages in Slovakia were transported to this mountain. The memorial has 6 mass graves and 178 single graves. A total of 6.845 soldiers were buried. In the center - a pavilion with a symbolic sarcophagus of white marble. Architect Jan Svetlik supervised the construction of the memorial. The authors of the monuments and bas-reliefs adorning the memorial are sculptors Jó zef Kostka, Ladislav Snopek, Tibor Bartfay, Rudolf Prybysh, Jan Kulich, and Oleksandr Trizulyak.→
